Hi folks,

Booster heater not been working since I had the car.

Is anybody close to Grantham with VAG-COM?

I'm going to change the glow plug no matter what but just in case any faults need clearing with VAG-COM.

Thanks in advance.

IIRC the MK1's don't have any fault indication from the Booster Heater......VagCom will not show anything with regard to it.

Check you actually have a heater....

Some people have been known to remove it before selling the vehicle.... ;) .....just my little joke.

Reply's are entertaining guys.

Thanks for the advice.

There is definately a unit there. Nobody has removed it! LOL.

If the mk1's have no vag com for the booster heater then with a quick glow plug change everything should be hunky dory rite?

I'll let you know how it goes.

This forum is fantastic!

according to ford...

The integral control module monitors all the necessary components of the booster heater, such as the flame sensor, the temperature sensor and the overheating sensor.

All operating errors and faults found are stored in the control module and can be read out using diagnostic equipment and used in problem solving.

whether or not you can get vag com to link up to heater unit is another question?

if the error is a 'glowplug open circuit' then it wont need resetting even if its a mk2

I found the sensor under the wipers the other day.

Disconnected it and tested it with multimeter after being in freezer for a few mins.

Sure enough it switched off as it warmed up.

Not sure what temp it was at the time.

Sure I read that the early Galaxy's don't switch till 5deg.
